Cinema. The selection includes films featuring stars such as the former Barça footballer ‘El Cholo’ Sotil and Zinedine Zidane, and films adopting a gender perspective in a world as sexist as sport.
Historically, film and sport have had a peculiarly symbiotic relationship, marked by a fascination with bodies in movement and the ability to generate a strong sense of community.
As part of the exhibition Citissimum Altissimum Fortissimum at Arts Santa Mònica, the Filmoteca has programmed a season of films focussing on sport, whether it be as a social barometer, as pure athletic exhibition or as an instrument for reinventing the rules.
